A magnificent original concept painting for the Disney Studios animated classic "Cinderella" (1950). Featuring Cinderella running down the grand staircase at the stroke of midnight, the striking painting was created by Disney Legend Mary Blair. Although she had worked for the Studio since the 1940s, it was the 1950s that brought Mary Blair to the forefront of the Animation Department. Walt Disney chose Blair as the color stylist for "Cinderella," "Alice in Wonderland," "Peter Pan," and several theatrical shorts. It was her conceptual work, styling, and brilliant sense of color, that set the tone for the first three features for the studio in the 1950s. Her early concepts are considered by many collectors to be some of the most desirable and important artwork to come out of the Disney studio. Measuring 14.25"x25" framed, with the mat opening measuring 8"x18.5", the piece is in fine condition with pin holes in the corners from studio use.
